Our Rooms

Untitled Document
The overall floor area of our home is approximately 4,200 feet, not including two porticos, which add graceful architectural lines to our exterior. Our bedrooms are named for the three families that have owned and cared for this home throughout its 100 year history.

McCully Room

The McCully room is our master bedroom suite. It is named in honor of Frank and Martha McCully, the first owners of this home. Frank McCully is known as the Father of Joseph and the Father of Wallowa County. More than any other single individual, he was responsible for building the town of Joseph, and he literally founded Wallowa County. The McCully bedroom features windows on three sides, and an electric fireplace with a hearth and mantle.

The McCully bath is furnished with the original tub, which is refinished, plus traditional toilet and pedestal sink.

The Dawson room is our midsize bedroom.  It is named in honor of the two generations of Dawsons who owned the home from 1938 until 2005.  Like Frank McCully, both George Dawson and his son Malcolm served as mayors of Joseph.

The Dawson bath features a step-in shower and antique style pedestal sink and toilet.
The McColgan bedroom has a lovely view of the Wallowa Mountains. The private bath is across the hall, and features the refurbished claw-foot tub with shower and antique style toilet and pedestal sink.  The McColgan room is named for John and Pepper McColgan, the current owners of this elegant home.

 Our Living Room
Our kitchen features oak cabinets.  The flooring throughout the ground floor level of our home is oak, and the flooring on the top floor level is maple.  Besides the living room and dining room, the ground floor includes a sun room, a large kitchen, a bedroom/office with a full attached bathroom, and an enclosed back porch.  Flooring in all of our four full bathrooms is Marmoleum.

Our full basement of about 1400’ includes a large open area and five smaller rooms, including a laundry room, food storage room, and spare toilet room.  A mechanical area in the center of the basement includes both our heating boilers, and two electric water heaters (50 gallon and 80 gallon) which can be used together or separately, depending on expected demand.  The basement is wired but unfinished.  It provides additional, natural warmth in the winter and cooling in the summer.
